Senior Project Day 3
Senior Project Day 3
Time Spent: 3 hours
Total Time: 9 hours
Today we worked in a new area and weeded some more plants. Although it didn’t rain today, the soil was still very wet and soggy. It was a bit gross because as we tried to dig out the plants, worms would sometimes wiggle their way to the surface. After doing a bit of weeding in the area, we walked up to a housing area. From there, we were given buckets of tanbark that we had to pour around plants that had been planted.

Senior Project Day 2
It was a bit more difficult to work this time because it was raining a lot and it was so cold. I did, however, learn a lot today. The burweed was brought by the Spanish and has stayed in the Presidio for hundreds of years. It looks just like a three leaf clover, but it has little burrs on it.
Senior Project Day 2
Time Spent: 3 hours
Total Time: 6 hours
Today we went to an area by the water near the Presidio. When we got there, it started to rain! Luckily, the volunteers provided big, yellow rain jackets and overalls, as well as rain boots, so we wouldn’t get soaked while we were volunteering. Today we needed to take out a plant called burweed.

Senior Project Day 1
Senior Project Day 1
Time Spent: 3 hours
Total Time: 3 hours
Today it was my first time volunteering with the Presidio Park Stewards. We went to Dragonfly Creek from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, where we dug up weeds and put them in bags that were provided for us. After filling up the bags, the weeds were then tossed in the back of a truck. The area was full of old tennis balls because there was a tennis court right next to the creek.
